Physical Education

PE develops pupils’ competence and confidence to take part in a range of physical activities that become a central part of their lives, both in and out of school.

A high-quality PE curriculum enables all students to enjoy and succeed in many kinds of physical activity. They develop a wide range of skills and the ability to use tactics, strategies and compositional ideas to perform successfully. When they are performing, they think about what they are doing, analyse the situation and make decisions. They also reflect on their own and others’ performances and find ways to improve them. As a result, they develop the confidence to take part in different physical activities and learn about the value of healthy, active lifestyles. Discovering what they like to do, what their aptitudes are at school, and how and where to get involved in physical activity helps them make informed choices about lifelong physical activity.

PE helps students develop personally and socially. They work as individuals, in groups and in teams, developing concepts of fairness and of personal and social responsibility. They take on different roles and responsibilities, including leadership, coaching and officiating. Through the range of experiences that PE offers, they learn how to be effective in competitive, creative and challenging situations.

Our main aim is to challenge students to develop character through sport and physical activity. We ask our students to step out of their comfort zone and challenge them to grow in an environment driven by values such as determination, resilience, ambition, self belief and confidence, honesty, integrity, commitment and sportsmanship.

Health includes not only physical well being but also mental and social well being. Thus, we seek to create an environment in which all students feel comfortable and able to represent the school in a sporting context, striking a balance between success and participation. We believe that this contributes towards the formation of lasting friendships and fond memories and that it also contributes to the academic achievement of students through enhanced self esteem and the development of character and virtue, including the traits embodied in the IB Learner Profile.

Our vision is to be the leading school for Touch Rugby in Hong Kong and be known within the wider community for our sportsmanship and enjoyment of Hiking and Outdoor Pursuits.

Touch Rugby

We aim to be the leading school for touch rugby in the region.

We have achieved huge success in this field, with our Girls Under 14 team crowned Asia Champions, and our boys’ teams on the brink of championship glory. We enter teams in every age group and category of the HK National Championships and a huge number of students represent the school. A number of our students have competed internationally for Hong Kong in rugby.

As well as exposure to competition, our rugby programme helps develop leadership skills, as students act as coaches and mentors. They take on responsibility for training and performance and captains communicate their vision, motivate and pass on their skills and experience. Most importantly, our programme help our students develop a sense of fair play and the pride that is associated with playing at a very high level.
