Touch Rugby Champions
ICHK was named overall grand champion for the second year running and for the fourth time in the school's history at the HK Schools Touch Championships.
A total of 18 schools and 50 teams contested the HK Schools Touch Trophy, a tournament jointly hosted by Canadian International and ICHK, and the title of best Girls or Boys team in the U14, U16 or U20 age group.
Hopes were high at ICHK. Growing numbers of students have been taking up the sport and playing on a more regular basis. ICHK has a strong record of success in recent years and players have continued to improve.
Our young leaders were superb in their roles as captains performing administrative support, communicating with players in their team, organising kit in the weeks leading up to the event, as well as motivating and encouraging their teams on the day.
It was fantastic to see players new to the experience from year 7 students to senior students in year 13. Experienced players and novices alike performed exceedingly well.
The defence was outstanding with players putting their bodies on the line to make touches and scramble back. There were some incredibly tense and exciting moments and each player will have their own special memories of passes, scores, and touches.
The results were an improvement on last year with ICHK winning first place in U14 Boys, U16 Boys and Girls, second place in U14 Girls, 7th place out of 10 schools for the U20 Boys and 7th place out of 7 for the U20 Girls. Every player made a difference and contributed to the winning total. Altogether these teams combined into a winning points total to win the overall grand champion for the second year running and for the fourth time in the school's history.
