Spanish students have started a pen-pal project with a school in Tenerife.

Under the guidance of teachers Nicolas Arriaga and Vanessa Afonso, students in Years 7-9 are writing to students at the Echeyde school.

In their correspondences, they are writing about school, personal interests, where they are from and sharing Christmas greetings.

Year 7s designed postcards whilst Year 8s and 9s composed more formal letters putting into practice what they have been learning this term.

All their letters are being written in Spanish to help develop their skills, and they will receive letters in English in return, from the English as foreign learners students in Tenerife.

The project allows them to work creatively and in collaboration to develop their written skills, and is a fun and entertaining way to gently push them out of their comfort zones and develop a growth mindset, which are key to the ICHK approaches.
