Sports Day Returns
We are delighted that the ICHK sports day is to return after a long absence caused by the pandemic.
The event, which has always been an important day in the school calendar, will be held at the Tai Po Sports Ground.
Students have selected their events and are looking forward to a day of friendly competition, new school records being set and personal achievements and growth celebrated.
House spirit is already building, with students busy creating posters and banners for the day.
A range of track and field events will be held including relay, tug of way, 1500m, high jump, discus and shot put, all giving students an opportunity both to celebrate their own successes but also to commend and applaud the successes of others.
As always, the event will be about so much more than winning. It is aimed at drawing out and highlighting two values that our school holds to be vital, and which we try to develop in everything we do. Resilience is one – the ability to dig in, to keep going, to bring yourself to the starting line and run your hardest even when you are certain you can’t win.
Community is the other – the feeling, and more importantly, the knowledge that we belong. We belong to something that is bigger than ourselves. We know that our efforts and contributions are valued by everyone around us, valued by team mates and rivals alike, valued because they are heartfelt and freely given.
