Year 9 students have been learning about Pythagoras' theorem in a real-life setting.

Students in Jimmy Lam’s class have been exploring the relationships among the three sides in a right-angled triangle.

In a creative lesson, they measured the dimensions of the school's front court (length and width). They then calculated and measured the diagonal. It was fascinating to see that the measurement was only 2 cm off from the calculation.

It was a fun lesson which led to great steps forward in learning and showed the students how mathematics can be applied in real life.

Seeing as understanding is a powerful mathematical toolkit to help students develop a curiosity and enjoyment of mathematics at ICHK.
