Lessons in Human Development

Year 7s have been learning to use knives safely, as part of studies into the course of human development.

Students have been learning how to whittle wood under supervision, whilst focusing on the evolution of tool making and its impact on human society.

The lesson was part of a ‘Pivotal Technologies’ study unit, which encompassed Human Technologies and Deep History. Students are being exposed to the full sweep of history, giving them a better understanding of where they find themselves now.

Meanwhile Year 9 students have been learning about power and how it is exercised by individuals, groups, companies and governments during their HT lessons.

The HT programme runs from Year 7-11 and encourages students to experience school in more positive ways, whilst developing a profound sense of the art and craft of being human.
