Creating an Impact at the Hispanic Culture Festival
ICHK created an impact at Hong Kong’s biggest annual Hispanic school event.
Our students gave outstanding performances at the Hispanic Culture Festival.
Held at St Margaret’s School, the 13th Edition of the Festival was a huge success, drawing an audience of around 300 people and showcasing the enthusiasm and talent of our school community.
Year 12 students performed in “La vida debería ser al revés” ("Life should run in reverse chronological order"). The play had special meaning as it was a remake of the hit 2017 edition, performed by our very own English teacher Sanika Kulkarni, when she was a Year 12 student at ICHK.
A brave group of Year 7s performed an original romantic comedy “Lo de siempre”, ("As usual").
As well as our theatre performances, there was strong representation from ICHK Primary, with students joining a choir and dance team.
Our students also achieved artistic recognition in the poster design competition, with three hand-drawn works shortlisted, and an ICHK design selected to illustrate this year’s edition.
The annual festival is organised by the Hong Kong Speech and Culture Festival (HKSSCF), a society formed by local and international school teachers. ICHK is a founding member and our Head of Languages Nicolas Arriaga is the President.
Students from schools across Hong Kong joined together to perform a selection of music, dance, drama and comedy, in a fantastic celebration of language and culture. Hispanic food was served at the end, together with the traditional piñata for primary school students.
ICHK has a strong tradition of supporting and taking part in language festivals, as it is one of the ways in which we enrich and broaden our educational programme.
We are deeply grateful to all the families and colleagues who attended and supported the event, and we congratulate every student who participated for their commitment, creativity, and spirit.
