Clean Up Operation

Students embarked on a major clean-up operation as part of their work at the Starling Inlet.

Year 9 students collected, sorted and disposed of more than 1,000 pieces of plastic along our local shoreline.

Staff from the Science and Outdoor departments subdivided the clean-up sections, and all students played their part in the plastic collection.

Regular clean-ups like this remind them how important it is to care for their community and how, through their actions, they can make a difference.

Students regularly take part in clean ups along the shoreline, helping them to develop the practices required to become sustainability stewards.

Their work also helps to restore the beautiful views and will hopefully lead to an increase in returning wildlife as a result.

This week, as well as plastics, students collected fishing rods, bottles, jade roof tiles, blue and white porcelain pottery and coloured glass.

Students from across the school will join efforts to create an Earth Day mural with some of the items that were found.
