An excursion to Sai Wan has been inspiring students of Chinese.

Year 9 students of Leah Tsao’s class travelled to the Western side of Hong Kong Island as part of their studies.

They have been looking at Hong Kong literature, and the outing gave them the opportunity to take their learning outside of the classroom.

The students had the chance to explore and compare the old and new Hong Kong, learn about the territory’s history, daily life and local eating culture.

They met different people, acquired a huge amount of new knowledge along the way and were able to experience the words from their pages come to life.

Our language teachers offer a well-balanced combination of traditional skills and interactive activities in lessons, to gently push students out of their comfort zones and develop a growth mindset, which are key to the ICHK approaches.

Students returned to class energised and engaged, having made strong steps forward in their learning.
