Year 7s have been stepping into the roles of one of Shakespeare’s most popular plays.

As part of their introduction to the great playwright, our youngest students are studying Macbeth during their English lessons.

Students of 7.3 took part in reader theatre performances, allowing them to enjoy the script as it was originally intended – to be read aloud.

They worked in groups to recreate Act 4, Scene 1 when Macbeth meets with the witches who are busy making potions and casting spells, and asks them to reveal the truth of their prophecies to him.

Under the guidance of English teacher Kathryn Lung, they delivered creative and confident performances, and the activity led to great steps forward in their understanding of the text.
