Wellness Challenge

A new Wellness Challenge has been launched in Year 9, to foster good mental health practices.

Every week during Curriculum X students will take part in fun activities designed to help them thrive.

The programme is being led by Head of Year 9 Jennie Davies, and is the latest in a series of pastoral initiatives designed for her students.

It started with students enjoying a fun and energising dodgeball session, building team spirit and boosting positive emotions.

This week students will take part in a quiz, followed by a team building scavenger hunt the following week.

The final session will involve a Ready Steady Cook challenge to develop creativity and teamwork and foster a sense of competition and school spirit.

The initiative will end with a pizza party for the winning group.

All the activities have been designed to support students and help them develop strong mental health practices as they move through adolescence.

It aligns with the positive psychology which informs all learning and teaching, helping students to develop the cognitive and emotional tools they need, not only for their academic studies, but also for wellness in life.

In this positive environment, students are supported and empowered to develop their strengths, ensuring they are happy, mentally healthy and well equipped to face the challenges of school and beyond.
