Transition Support

Presentations are being staged for next year’s Year 7 cohort, as part of a support programme to welcome new students to ICHK.

Head of Year 7 Isabel Khine, along with Director of Student Welfare Jennie Davies, Deputy Head Kathryn Lung and Assistant Head of Learning Support Sammi Chan, have been visiting our feeder primary schools this month.

They have been speaking to students about the curriculum they will encounter in year 7, the Deep Learning programme and how a typical school day looks.

The aim is to reassure the students as they complete their primary education, and help to prepare them for the next step in their educational journeys.

Students have been engaged and enthusiastic, and completed fun quizzes about life at ICHK.

The transition from primary to secondary school is a critical time that is considered to be challenging for students, and generally requires them to move from a familiar school environment to a larger educational setting. It also means that they need to establish new friendships at a time when peer acceptance is extremely important.

The presentations have been specially designed to support the students through this process with confidence and resilience and form the first step of our unique Transitions programme, which will continue throughout Year 7.
