Technologies for Teamwork

Year 8s enjoyed a virtual scavenger hunt this week, developing their teamwork and communication skills in the virtual classroom.

As part of the activity, the students were split into five teams and had to race to complete a series of tasks and challenges.

The lesson was designed by teacher Sky Clarke as part of a Technologies for Teamwork unit.

Whilst the students may not be able to play team building games face to face, staff are working hard to ensure they remain engaged and keen to learn, and the Human Technologies curriculum is continually being adapted for online learning.

The scavenger hunt was split into four sections with points awarded for every challenge.

Students were tasked with finding household items, taking photographs, solving riddles and acting out instructions in a set period of time.

They were required to plan, make use of existing skills, communicate and collaborate – all attributes of teamwork which they have been discussing in previous lessons.

The activity also injected a great deal of fun into their learning, helping to counter Zoom fatigue.

Teamwork is one of the key skills we aim to develop through our HT programme, which is the centrepiece of the ways in which we continue to change education for the better.

Our core aim is to educate students to be resourceful, resilient, collaborative, open-minded, ethical, accepting of others, sustainable in their habits, and more inclined to take the long view, whilst encouraging them to experience school in more positive ways.

We look forward to the students taking part in the huge range of teamwork games we offer at school, just as soon as they can resume campus learning.
