Students Visit ICHK Summits
ASDAN and +1 Centre students visited ICHK Summits, to learn more about our post-secondary programme.
The visit was led by Summits learners, who welcomed the group with a presentation about their experiences, answered questions and gave a tour of the learning space in Central.
It was a valuable opportunity for our students to hear directly from young adults about what learning at Summits is really like, and to begin thinking about their own pathways towards greater independence, further education and employment.
For students graduating from the +1 Centre and the ASDAN pathway, ICHK Summits offers a natural progression within the ICHK community. The three-year programme is designed for neurodivergent young adults aged 18–25 with diverse learning needs, bridging the gap between education and adult life.
Inspired by our inclusive and innovative approach to education, Summits combines vocational learning with the development of practical life skills. Learners gain workplace experience while developing communication, independence, financial awareness, digital literacy, personal safety and the skills needed to manage everyday adult life.
The Summits environment itself plays an important role in this journey. Like the +1 Centre, it has been deliberately designed to move away from the traditional classroom. Inspired by contemporary co-working spaces and university learning environments, it provides a flexible setting in which young adults can collaborate, work independently and develop the habits and confidence they will need beyond school.
An on-site coffee shop gives learners authentic opportunities to practise transferable workplace skills such as customer service, communication, teamwork, responsibility and time management in a supportive environment.
The visit offered our students a chance to see what the next step of their education could look like, and to hear from young people already taking those steps. It was also a wonderful opportunity for our Summits learners to take the lead, share their experiences and demonstrate just how far they have come.
