ASDAN Celebrates ICHK
We are delighted that ICHK has been featured by ASDAN, in an official story celebrating our approach to flexible, practical and inclusive learning.
The article, “How can international schools deliver flexible, practical learning?”, highlights how ICHK uses ASDAN programmes to create meaningful learning opportunities that recognise the different strengths, interests and aspirations of our students.
At ICHK, ASDAN forms part of our wider commitment to providing a range of pathways for young people. As an inclusive school serving a diverse student population, we recognise that students learn in different ways and that success should not be defined by a single set of academic measures. Our aim is to provide pathways that allow every student to develop their strengths, build confidence and acquire the skills and experiences that will prepare them for their future.
Practical and experiential learning plays an important role in this approach. By giving students opportunities to learn through real-world activities, projects and challenges, programmes such as ASDAN enable them to develop skills that extend well beyond the classroom. Communication, collaboration, independence, problem-solving and perseverance all become part of the learning experience.
Amber Stamp-Dunstan, ASDAN Education, Research and Innovation Co-ordinator, recently travelled from the UK to visit centres offering the programme, including ICHK.
She met learners across a number of our classes including International Silver/ Bronze Award, Geography and FoodWise, and was able to see how ASDAN courses are tailored to different learners and educational settings.
The stories she has highlighted offer powerful examples of what our approach can make possible: learning that extends beyond traditional measures of academic success and gives young people opportunities to discover their strengths, develop confidence and make a positive contribution to the world around them.
We are so pleased to see our work celebrated by ASDAN and shared with its international community, and proud of the students and staff whose experiences demonstrate the value of a more inclusive, flexible approach to education.
