Students celebrate speech festival success

ICHK students celebrated excellent results in the prestigious HKIEACA Speech Festival.

Four students competed in the event, which attracts students from across Hong Kong.

Kaisla Majapuro and Charli Haddican from Year 9 took part in the Teenage Group Mandarin Tongue Twister. Alron Chan Yung Long from Year 10 and Evan Coey from Year 11 took part in the Teenage Group Mandarin Verse.

All stepped out of their comfort zone and challenged themselves, especially Kaisla and Charli, who are are not Chinese students, but attempted the challenging Tongue Twister.

Congratulations to all, and especially to Charli who won first place in her event; Kaisla who achieved second place and Alron who was awarded third place. For those of us who work week in, week out with these students, their success comes as no surprise. They are all text-book examples of the ideal learner - someone who routinely, habitually seeks challenge, embraces difficulty, pushes through adversity and, taking set-backs in their stride, sees where it leads them.
