Spanish Roleplay Awards
Students of Spanish have won awards for role-play presentations.
In Years 7 to 10, students learn Spanish through a well-balanced combination of traditional skills and interactive activities, including drama and games.
At the end of each unit, a role play is performed. Students work in pairs or groups to draft original scripts and learn their lines, before performing in front of their classmates. Partners rotate after each unit to make the exercise more challenging and allow them to work with different classmates.
In recent weeks students in year 7 have been developing and practising their scripts. As is traditional, after each role-play, students voted for their peers in two categories: the most creative script, and the best performance.
The roleplay exercises allow them to work creatively and in collaboration to develop oral skills, and is a fun and entertaining way to gently push them out of their comfort zones and develop a growth mindset, which are key to the ICHK approaches.
