Regeneration Work

Year 9 students are helping with the regeneration of abandoned villages in the Plover Cove Country Park.

They are learning about the Forest Village project in Mui Tsz Lam, and helping to clear old rice terraces for a new campsite.

Over the years, students have benefited from trips through these village areas and this project is a chance for them to give something back to the local community.

Each year 9 class in turn will take part in an outdoor learning excursion, hiking to Mui Tsz Lam, learning about the project and tasting local produce. They will then spend time clearing a section of woodland to become a campsite and communal gathering area for future visitors and students.

The Forest Village project is initiated and managed by HKU and co-organized by the Association for Sha Tau Kok Culture and Ecology (ASTKCE).

We are proud of our close community links and we are very pleased to be supporting the conservation project.

It is providing students with opportunities to serve the community and make a difference, helping them to become people who are collaborative, considerate, dependable, ethical and proactive, which is central to our approaches.
