New Art Exhibition
Year 10 BTEC Art and Design students have created a stunning exhibition of artwork.
They produced ‘altered self-portraits’, each embodying different values and meanings.
The students were tasked with creating a unique interpretation of the traditional self-portrait, after discussing different forms of alterations that contemporary and historical artists have used in their own works and considering the visual impact of them.
Their final artwork needed to reflect the notion of their own identity, as well as have at least one facial feature that was altered in a visually stimulating manner.
The students worked on multiple sketches to map out different iterations of their ideas, did meaningful material explorations to understand the mediums they felt confident using, and fleshed out their creative ideas visually in their final piece.
Their accomplishments were celebrated by the ICHK community in their first group show in the recently opened ‘White Cube’ exhibition space.
The students spoke proudly and eloquently about their process, concept, and successes of their artworks with visitors. They are to be commended for the quality of their work and for the stunning exhibition they created.
