ICHK students have taken part in a series of maths contests.

Housed within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, the Center for Education in Mathematics and and Computing (CEMC) is the largest organization of its kind in Canada.

Each year the CEMC offers a full set of contests for secondary students, and this week a number of Year 9 and 10 students took part in the Pascal Contest to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving skills.

Thinking mathematically does not mean that we simply follow a series of steps, instead it is about being flexible and finding the most efficient solution that makes sense.

Students are using the occasions as enrichment to improve their mathematical problem solving skills and extend their learning.
