JIS alumni returned to their alma mater for a special ‘Home Language Week’ event.

Students from years 10, 11 and 12 spent a day volunteering at their primary school campus, meeting younger students and inspiring them about language acquisition.

They worked in pairs to run a series of language sessions with students.

The event, organised by JIS and supported by the Languages department, was aimed at promoting the languages spoken by our students at home. They read stories in their home languages, shared picture books and taught the children some basic vocabulary.

Students shared stories in Japanese, Spanish, English, Cantonese and Mandarin.

They were all wonderful ambassadors for ICHK and are congratulated for volunteering in such a meaningful way.
