Core Week for Year 12s
Year 12 students have been off timetable as part of IB Core+4 week.
They have been involved in a series of activities related to their IB Core components, including Theory of Knowledge, CAS and Extended Essay, subject coursework and higher education information.
The year 12s have attended sessions on university pathways, writing personal statements and research skills.
They have also been working on their Collaborative Science projects. This is a compulsory component of the IB for all who study science subjects, and involves students working together on a scientific or technological problem. where students from different Science subjects work together. It allows concepts and perceptions from across the disciplines to be shared. It aims to help students recognise that real-world issues are inherently complex. The emphasis is on the experience of collaborative problem-solving. The project explores a specific issue, giving students the opportunity to recognise the environmental, social and ethical implications of science and technology. To this end our students visited Tai Po Kau forest, in order to research and discover the potential to re-develop a "brown-field" site at this location, with the intent of the fictitious "re-development" being environmental mitigation.
The students will present their Group 4 projects to teachers and they will also be sharing them with the ICHK community at the forthcoming Celebration of Learning.
