Year 7s have been developing friendships and finding out about each other through a fun and creative tutor time activity.

Students have been making ‘conversational hats’ during Curriculum X time.

They were tasked with making a hat as loud, exciting and flamboyant as possible, which told a story about themselves.

The only rule was that the hats could contain no words.

Once made, students were then invited to question each other about their madcap creations and find things they have in common and that are important to each individual.

The activity was a great way for them to build new connections, deepen relationships and gauge class interests. It aligned with our Transitions programme which aims to support Year 7s and help them cope with the move to secondary school with confidence and resilience.
