Year 7 Science students have been planning an investigation into parachutes.
The students of Matthew Ho’s class have been building on skills they developed in the ‘Thinking Like A Scientist’ unit, in which they were introduced to the scientific method.
In class this week they learned to link their scientific ideas with direct practical experience.
Each group chose an independent variable and carried out a test to see how it impacted the time it took for their parachutes to descend.
The students put a lot of planning into the experiment, and it was a rich experience, leading to big steps forward in their learning.
