Rei Ishimizu credits ICHK with preparing him for the challenges he has faced beyond school.

What did you most enjoy about your time at ICHK?

My most memorable moments at ICHK were the outdoor activities. I really enjoyed participating in after school activities, touch rugby tournaments and CAS activities throughout the years. I learnt a lot by interacting with people with different backgrounds and got close to them.

How do you feel that teachers at ICHK prepared you for life after school?

I feel that teachers in ICHK gave us the opportunity to make decisions and think actively. After experiencing life in public school and in cadet school, I feel that teachers in ICHK respect everyone’s opinions and choices. The environment that ICHK provides gave me the ambition to challenge new paths.

How do you think that ICHK differs from other schools?

I think small sized classes makes ICHK unique. In my current school my peers find it unusual to have small sized classes. Everyone has a chance to express their opinions as well as asking questions. In fact the whole school is small enough you can remember everyone’s names, but enough people to hold events.

What were the key skills that you learnt at ICHK?

The key skill I learnt in ICHK that I value the most is actively communicating with others. In cadet school we frequently meet new people, and we are required to cooperate with them. Communication is crucial when working with people who you are unfamiliar with, and I am glad that I’ve nurtured the skill over the years.
