Psychology Studies

Year 12 Psychology students have been learning about cultural adaptation.

The IB students have been learning about acculturation, which is the process by which people adapt to a new and different culture to the one in which they have been born and raised.

They have been exploring Berry’s model of acculturative strategies, which proposes four possible outcomes: assimilation, separation, integration, and marginalization.

As part of their learning, they conducted an in-depth analysis of a chosen character from literature or film, examining the character’s acculturative strategy, the transition between strategies over time and the associated level of acculturative stress.

To demonstrate their understanding, the students delivered presentations showcasing their research findings.
