We are looking forward to launching Level 2 of our pioneering Outdoor Leadership Award this year.

This unique initiative has been developed at school over the past eighteen months and recognises students for their outstanding work in outdoor education.

It has been another first for ICHK, which is proud to be embracing innovation and offering a more holistic approach to learning.

Under the pioneering project, students are given opportunities to help lead activities for their younger peers and students from our partner primary schools.

The Level 1 qualification is awarded to those who support four outdoor events, including those run for our partner primary schools. The events offer unique opportunities to develop key life skills including communication, planning, organisation and problem solving in dynamic situations. All student volunteers receive training, feedback and opportunities for creative input.

The certificates are a major addition to student portfolios and university applications. We are now working on the next stage of the project, which will be launched later this term.

To qualify for Level 2, students will need to take part in an additional four outdoor events and achieve two qualifications in activities which could include first aid, kayaking or sailing.

We are delighted to be developing this new award at ICHK, where our unique approaches to outdoor education have won acclaim and been shared at global conferences.
