ICHK Sports Day

The ICHK sports day returned at the end of term.

Students enjoyed a day of friendly competition at the Tai Po Sports Ground, with new school records set and personal achievements and growth celebrated.

A range of track and field events were held including relay, tug of war, 1500m, high jump, discus and shot put, all giving students an opportunity both to celebrate their own successes but also to commend and applaud the successes of others.

As always, the event was about so much more than winning. It was aimed at drawing out and highlighting two values that our school holds to be vital, and which we try to develop in everything we do. Resilience is one – the ability to dig in, to keep going, to bring yourself to the starting line and run your hardest even when you are certain you can’t win.

Community is the other – the feeling, and more importantly, the knowledge that we belong. We belong to something that is bigger than ourselves. We know that our efforts and contributions are valued by everyone around us, valued by team mates and rivals alike, valued because they are heartfelt and freely given.
