ICHK Inspires Young Sporting Stars

ICHK staff and students have been helping to inspire the next generation of sporting stars in Hong Kong.

A team from school visited the Hong Kong Sports Institute, the territory’s centre of sporting excellence and home to Hong Kong’s elite athletes.

They delivered a superb presentation on the importance of a growth mindset to the Hong Kong billiard sports national junior squad and their parents.

Ray Chan, Leah Tsao and Scarlette Leung spoke with passion about the development of a growth mindset, and how it is that effort, commitment, perseverance and resilience, rather than ‘intelligence’ or ‘talent’ will lead to high achievement and success.

They gave advice on how to face challenges, how feedback should be delivered and how to cultivate resilience.

A group of ICHK students spoke about their own sporting experiences, and how they have embraced challenges and enjoyed personal growth. They were wonderful ambassadors for ICHK, and all their stories showcased how a growth mindset has been embedded in our school.

The development of a growth mindset has been built into the elite coaching programme for the national junior squad, and all the young players are learning that hard work, perseverance, risk taking and endurance are critical for achievement.

We were delighted to visit the HKSI and play a part in the development of these young athletes.
