IB Preparation Camp
Students have enjoyed a fantastic week as part of the Chinese immersion and IB Preparation Camp.
The 10 day programme included seven days study at Nengren Middle School in Jiangsu province and three days in Shanghai.
ICHK has a strong partnership with the school, having run successful exchange programmes over a number of years. The camp strengthens that partnership further, and extends the opportunities available to our senior students.
Year 11 students attended lessons in Maths, Science and Arts subjects through the medium of Chinese.
They were also immersed in Chinese language and culture, enjoying a range of experiences including volleyball matches and the hospitality of their host families.
The camp was a great opportunity for Year 11s to make a strong head-start on their IB studies, as well as developing their language skills. The curriculum was specifically devised in conjunction with staff at ICHK to ensure that students were taught IB Diploma specific content.
Lessons were delivered by highly regarded colleagues from Nengren Middle School, which has an excellent reputation with the Chinese Education Authority. They enabled students to take different perspectives on teaching and learning and will be a valuable subjective experience for the Theory of Knowledge, a core component of the IB.
We are delighted to have provided this educational experience for our students.
