Full Circle Mentoring Scheme

A mentoring programme for girls in Year 7 is underway.

The Full Circle scheme is a pastoral initiative, aimed at supporting our youngest female students as they move through adolescence.

Group mentoring sessions have been added to Tuesday activities for small groups of students. The aim is to ensure that all Year 7 girls complete the activity over the coming year.

The initiative is designed to foster strengths and promote resiliency through developing authentic connections with peers and adult women in their community, build skills, counter trends toward self-doubt and allow for genuine self-expression through verbal sharing and creative activity.

In this positive environment, the students will be exploring their identities and learning how to act as role models and supporters to their peers.

The programme began last year and is run by Head of Year 7 Nelly Loi-Fong.

Nelly explained: “Early adolescence is an important time for girls as they begin to explore their individual identities in the face of media and social expectations. Full Circle aims to support and empower our young female students by providing a positive atmosphere for group mentoring, intending to facilitate growth and development of mentees.”

The programme has strong links to our 5+1 pastoral model and the Full Circle graduates will become mentors to young students as they progress in their secondary education.
