Creative Chinese Learning
Year 10 students have been introduced to Chinese musical instruments, as part of a creative approach to their language lessons.
The students of Amanda Luk’s foreign language class enjoyed a special lesson with music teacher Phoebe Wong this week.
It formed part of a study into leisure, and by the end they were able to play the opening to ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ with the two-stringed bowed musical instrument, the Erhu.
It was a very worthwhile exercise, giving students an opportunity to develop their listening and speaking skills in an authentic way.
Our language teachers offer a well-balanced combination of traditional skills and interactive activities in lessons, to gently push students out of their comfort zones and develop a growth mindset, which are key to the ICHK approaches.
