At ICHK we believe that children’s happiness and achievement are two sides of the same coin.

At the primary school, positive psychology and mindfulness are built into the curriculum to support student wellbeing.

Mindfulness has been scientifically proven to help children (and adults) to focus attention, deal with difficulties, build resilience to stress and develop a positive mindset in both school and life.

Students are taught a variety of techniques that they are able to use straight away, at home or in the classroom. These techniques can be used to support teacher and student wellbeing in small chunks of time during the busy school day.

We have adapted the research-based curriculum MindUp. This features lessons that use the latest information about the brain to dramatically improve behaviour and learning for all students.

At the secondary school the 5+1 Model builds a truly nurturing culture for all learners. It impacts on the way we view our students: as young people in a particular phase of their lives. It focuses on their mindsets, their courage and endurance to learn, the curriculum we offer and the ways in which we encourage communication and interaction in the school.
