Parents have been learning all about our pioneering Forest School approach.
Special workshops have been held to give parents a real insight into our educational programme.
Through hands on sessions and interactive activities, they have been learning about the Forest School ethos, and the ways they can support students.
They have also learned how to best support students when taking risks, and how when carefully supported, risk taking can be beneficial to a child’s development.
The parents can now choose to take their learning further with a Forest School Level 1 accredited course.
ICHK Hong Lok Yuen’s vision is to be a leader in Forest School and outdoor education.
Over the past 18 months, a major programme has been underway to embed the Forest School philosophy into the school curriculum.
Research shows that if children have access to a rich outdoor environment, they will have greater self-esteem, be more confident and develop better concentration, resilience and independence.
As part of our Forest School sessions, students are engaged in activities, which as well as developing a deep appreciation for nature, encourage them to become independent, solve problems, use their imagination, take appropriate risks within boundaries and initiate learning for themselves.
