We are very pleased to share the inspirational account of Saie Ryu Lee’s gruelling barefoot hike of the Maclehose Trail.
In his article ‘A Barefoot Hiker’s Guide to the MacLehose Trail’, Saie Ryu details his extraordinary account of walking the 100km trail barefoot.
Saie Ryu, who is a Learning Support Assistant at ICHK Secondary, was inspired to take on the challenge after realising how much of an impact moving his training practices outdoors was having on his psychological well-being.
He attributed a renewed sense of vigour, clarity and emotional stability to the cumulative invigorating and healing effect of spending more time immersed in natural and living surroundings.
Saie Ryu completed the personal challenge during the Christmas holidays, raising awareness and funds for the NGOs Feeding Hong Kong and Food Angel in the process.
