Time Machine
From ICHKWiki
Time machine is a software that comes for free with your mac when you buy it. This software allows you to very easily backup your data. In just a few 'clicks' your first backup will be launched. You need to connect an external hard drive (sold separately) to your mac and time machine will then automatically backup your data every hour on this drive. Time machine backs up your entire computer, your apps, accounts, music, preferences... Unfourtunately, not everything can be backed up. When you accidentally delete something, you can go back to the Time Machine and get it back.

Once this is done, you are going to SLICE your Macintosh HD into 2 parts. you will need to make 3 quarters of your space Macintosh HD, and the other quarter will be your backup. Before you do ANYTHING else, you will have to name your backup 'backup', but you don't have to. Now you must open your time machine, and the correct window you need should ask you for adding a backup. so you turn on the switch, and select your backup space, and cross your fingers hoping you have enough space for the backing up.
