Campus

Our new College is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty, alongside Starling Inlet and the Plover Cove Country Park in the Northern New Territories.

General teaching classrooms are bright and spacious. With the use of data projectors, visualisers and wireless capabilities (the latest in educational technology), they will enhance computer literacy, and facilitate our students to learn in the 21st century.

The Language and Media Suite is equipped with 20 Apple iMac computers. Through this multi-purpose room, students will have access to subject specific and specialist software to assist them in a range of curriculum areas and our on-line learning programmes. The Language and Media Suite will also be a base for our Language Lab in which students will have access to the latest developments in on-line language acquisition technology to assist in our Chinese and Spanish programmes.

ICHK’s Learning Support Centre is located alongside the main teaching classrooms to cater for individual students and small groups who require additional support to achieve their full potential.

Our Visual Arts and Design studio has space for students to work on both large and small-scale projects. In order to nurture our students’ creativity through to iGCSE and beyond, our ICHK Gallery will ensure that students’ art and design work is accessible to all members of the ICHK community. In view of the important aspect of performance in our school curriculum, the Performing Arts Studio is tailor-made for our Dance, Drama and Music curriculum.

ICHK Community Hall is the centre of many school activities and celebrations. Besides being the central area for our indoor P.E. activities, this hall has a nearby large changing room facilities and a large stage to be installed with auditory and lighting equipment which will enable us to host performances, productions and music concerts to showcase the talents of our students.

Our Science and Environment Discovery Centre will provide for the learning of Chemistry, Physics and Biology. It will also form the basis of our practical research centre for Environmental Studies. In addition to our Science Lab, a Physics and General Science teaching room will be used for students throughout the school.

Students will be expected to take an active role in the initial design, development and later upkeep of our Outdoor Environmental Area. Here students will be able to experience first-hand the process of organic farming in order to cultivate small crops to be used in some of the small meals and snacks provided in The Mangrove!! ICHK’s very own internet Café. With shade and comfortable seating along with wireless network access, the Mangorove will be an ideal location for students to relax and meet whilst eating healthy and nutritious food during lunch and break times. Our school caterers are Chartwells, part of Compass Group, who provide catering services for several of the leading international schools in Hong Kong.

As well as outdoor space for students to use during their free time, The Study Hub will also provide space for students to work and relax. The Study Hub, our library and research centre consists of two independent areas. Hub 1 will house the fiction section of our school’s library. Students will be able to work collaboratively in small groups and enjoy the comfortable seating and relaxed surroundings. Hub 2 will be the basis of our non-fiction and journal collection. Students will be able to carry out independent research and work within the individual Study Pods.

As the students, teachers and parents all play such a vital role in ICHK’s learning community that two conference rooms are designed to provide space for meetings and group discussions to take place.

A basketball court and surrounding area provides space for our on-site PE curriculum. Along with the use of off-site sporting facilities including nearby Fanling Swimming Pool and Tai Mei Tuk Watersports Centre, ICHK will continue to strive to provide first-class accommodation and facilities to help ensure our students have the best possible educational experience throughout their time at school.

Phase Two of our school development will take place to accommodate our growing numbers after the initial three years. Further development of Science Lab and Performance studios, along with additional classrooms and extensions to the Learning Support facilities will ensure that the school continues to grow along with our student population.

Phase Three will take us into the future to provide first class facilities that reflect the strategic plan for the school and the expectations of our community.
