To aid the holistic development of our students we offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities that fit under the broad headings of Creativity, Action and Service (CAS). Each term we run weekly activities during break times and after school. There is a wide selection to choose from, and the programme changes each term following consultation with students and teachers, and depending on the weather.
All students take part in Tuesday activities and students must take part in a C, A and S activity during the course of the year.
The after school activities for the current year included:

ICHK students benefit from an international education whereby they … engage in offsite activities to enhance their personal, social and physical development, acquire greater depth and breadth of knowledge and appreciate the natural beauty of the surrounding environment. ICHK Mission and Vision, 2009
ICHK’s Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) Week will take place from November 1st to 5th 2010. CAS Week is an off-site programme in which each year group has an individual programme tailored to their academic, personal and social development.
CAS Week is an integral part of our curriculum. It provides an opportunity to develop our sense of community and to experience the natural beauty of southern China. This year’s programme has been developed specifically to focus on outdoor pursuits, team building, language immersion and community service.
Locations and activities
CAS Week activities for 2010-11 will take place in Hong Kong and Guilin, depending on the student’s year group. A summary of the locations and activities is shown below.
Year 8 – Improving Chinese language skills
Strengthening our Chinese language programme is one of the development areas in our strategic plan and this is reflected in the proposed trip for our Year 8s. Our Guilin trip includes a strong language component and is an excellent opportunity to develop a greater appreciation for the language and culture of China. Outside of the ‘language instruction sessions’ students will aim to further develop and practise their language skills.
The programme also has a community service element and students will practise the vocabulary they will need to interact with the students from a local school in Guilin.
